Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds has issued a disaster proclamation for 20 counties following the recent storms that devastated the state.

The Governor’s Office stated in a press release that the proclamation will give the 20 counties impacted by the storm a chance to quickly recover.

"The proclamation allows state resources to be utilized to respond to and recover from the effects of this severe weather in Benton, Cedar, Clarke, Greene, Hardin, Iowa, Jasper, Linn, Muscatine, Polk, Poweshiek, Scott, Tama and Washington counties," the Governor’s Office stated in a press release. "The proclamation also activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program for qualifying residents, along with the Disaster Case Management Program, for all these counties as well as Boone and Clinton counties, which were previously declared to be in a state of disaster emergency."

In retrospect, Reynolds also declared a disaster for Dallas, Johnson, Marshall and Story counties and activated the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program. Moreover, the distribution of recovery grants will be overseen by the Disaster Case Management Program.

According to the Governor's Office, the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program will provide $5,000 grants for households with incomes up to 200% of the federal poverty level that does not exceed the maximum annual income of $43,440 for a three-member household.
